Umuka Presidency-General 2022-2026: Strategic Focus Areas
Ndi Nwem,
1. I am humbled by the decision of Umuka General Assembly on Saturday, January 29, 2022, to choose me as President-General for the 2022-2026 period. I also feel most honored for the outpouring of love to me from Ogwumaeze sons and daughters everywhere since the conclusion of the elections. I take my selection as a call to higher service and greater sacrifice to our beautiful and blessed community.
2. As I said in my inaugural presentation to the entire community on Monday, January 31, 2022, I shall give the assignment all the seriousness it deserves. Under my supervision, the Ogwuma Presidency shall focus on 4 key, thematic areas captured under the acronym, E.Y.E.S.
3. The "E" stands for “Everyone. EVERYONE shall have a role, and all hands would be on deck. We shall vigorously uphold the Umuka Progressive Union (UPU) motto: unity and progress, by promoting the philosophy of “njikoka," together we are stronger. To help keep everyone updated, we shall initiate the publication of an annual newsletter that captures Ogwuma’s past and present major developments and achievements.
3 "Y" is for YOUTH Development. We shall organize our young ones to take full advantage of all educational and vocational opportunities available nationally and globally: scholarships, schools' admissions, career advisory, employments, and skills acquisition. We shall pursue the vision of One Youth, One Skill.
4. The second ”E" represents ECONOMY. We shall explore multiple opportunities and expertise to expand and diversify our community's ECONOMY and revenue base (agriculture and other businesses) to make our people richer.
5. The "S" is for "SOCIALS". We shall revisit and revive positive aspects of our TRADITION, CULTURAL HERITAGE, AND POLITICS, to promote unity and happiness among our people. Along this line, we shall encourage the formation and functionality of more Age Grade Organizations. We shall organize annual Ogwuma Festivals to promote and showcase our talents in arts, science, songs, dances, and sports. We shall champion the emergence of culture of Brotherly Politics (politics without bitterness and rancor) among Umuka political stakeholders.
6. While focusing on E.Y.E.S., we shall also continue to seek opportunities to add value to the lives of our people through investments in:
• Improved Electricity/Power Generation and supply
• Health Care
• Schools/Education
• Infrastructural Development - roads, common buildings, water boreholes, etc
• Robust Constitutional Amendment
7. Ndi nwem, once again, I hold highly the trust you have reposed in me and the new UPU administration. By the grace of God Almighty, we shall serve you creditably.
