A passionate appeal to ebonyi youths by commissioner for youths and sports
A PASSIONATE APPEAL TO EBONYI YOUTHS - BY THE HON. COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT & SPORTS
Furtherance to the appeal made to the youths of Ebonyi by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi in the wake of the repeated destruction of lives and properties in Ebonyi State by some imported vandals in the guise of Endsars Protests, I , Hon. Charles Emeka Akpu-Enika, the Commissioner for youth Development and Sports hereby urge the youths of Ebonyi State as follows:
1. That the crippling of activities by those who invaded the State is not only very unfortunate but uncalled for. The acts of arson destruction of lives and properties both public and private is very ungodly and afront on the law abiding youths of Ebonyi State.
2. I therefore join His Excellency, the Governor to offer condolences to the families of security Agents, traders and other Ebonyians who lost their lives during the unfortunate first struck on the 20th and 26th October 2020.
3. I appreciate the acts of professionalism displayed by the security agencies who despite the provocation resisted the temptation to apply the use of force to crush the rampaging invaders.
4. I commend His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi for pledging to compensate the families of those who lost their lives during the attacks.
5. Ebonyi youths are reminded that there's no Administration anywhere across the country that has empowered the youths as the current administration in Ebonyi State and is still doing. Over 70 percent of the State Executive Council members, Boards and Commissions, the Executive Assistants (EA), Senior Technical Assistants (STAs), and Technical Assistants (TAs) are youths.
6. This Administration has ensured that the wealth of the State is not hijacked by any Cabal, but rather used judiciously & prudently for the equal benefit of all citizens of the State.
7. The Government that has appointed over 100 youths into the State Executive Council and over 1100 youths as Technical Assistants (TAs), and boast of 90% public positions occupied by youths, and out of which 30% are women should be appreciated and defended by the youth of this State instead of joining forces with enemies of the State under any guise or organisation to destroy the public infrastructures in the State.
8. We should be mindful of the fact that outsiders are envious of the developmental strides of Ebonyi State as the fastest growing developing State in the country under the wonder working Governor, Engr. David Umahi hence the invading persons are imported by the enemies to destroy our pride.
NOTE:
I wish to also bring to our notice, that His Excellency, the Youth friendly Governor, Engr. Chief David Umahi had not only acknowledged the genuineness of the agitation, but has taken practical steps in addressing all the demands of the Youths in his address to the youths during his interface with the peaceful protesters, but has constituted several committees to ensure speedy implementation of those demands. We should be proud of the achievements so far recorded by the Youths in the State using the instrumentality of this peaceful protest.
9. Finally, I wish to appreciate His Excellency for doling out the whooping sum of ₦2.6 billion naira SME fund for organised youth organisations across the State. This gesture is the first of its kind in the country.
10. We should be grateful to our Governor over the way the Covid -19 parliatives were shared in the Polling boots across the State thereby giving everybody equal opportunity.
11. Also Remember that His Excellency had before now distributed free Sienna Vehicles and Keke Napep to large number of Ebonyi youths for empowerment.
12. I therefore plead with the youths of Ebonyi State to see reasons to desist from joining the imported vandals to destroy our Commonwealth, under any guise.
LET US SAY NO TO VIOLENCE IN EBONYI STATE AND IN NIGERIA.
